AELP Safeguarding and Prevent Community of Practice

Event Date & Time 4 November, 2026 (10:00 AM)
Details ### Strengthening Safeguarding and Prevent in Apprenticeships Effective safeguarding relies on more than policies and compliance procedures. It requires knowledgeable staff, clear responsibilities and an organisational culture that places learner safety and wellbeing at its centre. The AELP Community of Practice provides a collaborative forum for Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and safeguarding professionals to explore these responsibilities. ### Sharing Experience and Effective Practice Led by Imtiaz Kala, DSL and EDI Lead at Total People/MOL, the network encourages providers to share challenges, discuss relevant policy and guidance, and learn from one another. Professional dialogue helps participants consider how safeguarding arrangements work in practice and identify opportunities to strengthen organisational responses. ### Building a Strong Safeguarding Culture A positive safeguarding culture depends on consistent expectations, professional confidence and effective collaboration across an organisation. The Community of Practice supports reflection on how providers develop staff capability, respond to emerging risks and maintain safe learning environments. For Creating Excellence, participation connects with a wider commitment to inclusive practice, organisational capability and quality improvement across further education and apprenticeships.
